Earlier this month, we attended the first-ever Fairtrade Global Awards summit in Nairobi after receiving nominations in two categories.
Hosted by Fairtrade Africa, the Fairtrade Global Awards sims “to bring Fairtrade farmers and workers closer to the businesses that source from them – and celebrate where these relationships are creating impact”. The awards feature eight categories celebrating excellence in ethical and sustainable production and trade practices, from climate action to living wages and income.
What’s more, the Fairtrade Global Awards are voted for by producers, allowing farmers to recognise business commitment. Needless to say, we were delighted to be nominated.
At the Fairtrade Global Awards 2023, we proudly received Runner Up in the Living Income Leader category.
DRWakefield was one of 16 organisations and businesses to win an award. The awards and business summit was attended by people representing 29 different countries, which made for wonderful conversation, perspectives and networking.
We have been a proud Fairtrade partner for almost 30 years, and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate this milestone.
