We are delighted to announce that we have just become one of the first UK based green coffee importers to gain B-Corp certification; a natural extension of our ongoing focus on certifications and sustainability.
What does B Corp certification involve?
It addresses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The certification process requires applicants to reach a specified benchmark score while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices.
What it means for us and our partners?
The certification is reassessed every year and for us means that this is not just a certification but a journey of continuous improvement, where we can set clear goals and ambitions within each area, which we can progress, measure and improve on.
For our customers and partners it is a reassurance that people and planet are at the heart of everything we do and supports our mission ‘To continually develop a sustainable, progressive and open approach to coffee’.
We are now part of a community of over 3,700 businesses globally who have certified as B Corps. In the UK, this is represented by a broad cross section of industries and sizes, comprises over 450 companies and including well-known brands such as Innocent, Patagonia, The Body Shop, and organic food pioneers Abel & Cole.
Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK says “We are delighted to welcome DRWakefiled to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies who are committed to changing how business operates, who believe business really can be a force for good. We know that they are going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward”.
