This coffee comes from the Thunguri Wet Mill of the Kibirigwi Farmer Cooperative society, grown on the southern slopes of Mt Kenya. The group has been growing coffee since 1953, and the region is perfect for developing the flavours we’ve come to expect from Kenya – the Thunguri AA is the perfect example of a specialty Kenya coffee.
Coffee Processing and Marketing:
Farmers selectively hand pick red ripe cherries that are delivered for wet milling on the same day. The parchment is then fermented, washed and sun dried . Dry parchment is milled and bagged at Sangana coffee mills and then transported to the dry mill warehouses. The Coffee is then sold through the Nairobi auction, passing through Jowam Coffee exporters before heading to the UK for DRW.
This coffee has been a mainstay of DRW’s Kenya offering since 2014 and looks set to continue.
