Guatemala Nueva Granada Laurina

Cupping notes

Grape, orange, sugarcane, walnut, choc.

Description

Laurina, or Bourbon Pointu, is a low caffeine varietal that originates from Île Bourbon, now known as Reunion Island.

Caffeine is generally given as 0.5–0.7% dry matter basis (dmb) compared to 1.1% or a little higher for other Arabicas.

Introduced from Yemen three times, only seedlings from 1715 and 1718 introductions took. The first was in 1708.

The seeds that were planted on this farm also came from Reunion, around 2011.

Despite the growing challenges, the delicate cup profile makes it worth pursuing.
