Guatemala El Recuerdo Lot#1

Cupping notes

Stonefruit, dried apricot, strawberry, lemon.

Description

Finca El Recuerdo is owned by the Castillo family, mother, father and 5 children, and lies close to the Mexican border in Bojonalito, La Libertad. The mountainous, remote location has many great coffee growers amongst the many folds of the land, with the roofs of the houses often doubling up as drying patios or processing areas.

Epifanio is named after his father and original owner of the farm. They worked together since he was young and Epifanio the son named the farm El Recuerdo as it means to remember or souvenir, a reminder of their time together and the legacy left from father to son. He grows Bourbon, San Ramon and Caturra on his farm, one of the higher in the area at around 1800-1900masl. Producing around 250 quintals of parchment a year, coffee is grown under shade from the numerous Gravilea trees, allowing for the slower development of the bean to develop more complexity and sugars.

This is one of two lots we have the pleasure to bring to you this harvest, taken from different altitudes on the farm.

Coffee is wet processed, fermented for 30 hours and dried on patios under the sun.
