Green Apple, Apricot, Pear, Orange.
The municipality of Ciudad Bolivar, located amongst lush vegetation, wide and majestic landscapes, has been named so since 1962 and through the hard work of the residents become an important centre for urban and rural development. It now has the reputation of the “Capital of Southwest of Antioquia”. The imposing Samanes trees of the town square still afford the typical pleasure of Antioquia towns – the ability to gather in the shade with friends over a cup of coffee.
The main economic activities are agriculture -growing coffee, beans, plantain, sugar cane and yuca- and commerce. The economy is based on coffee, and the district is one of the main producers of some of the best.
As a regional coffee, cherries are picked and wet processed and dried in silos on the individual farms and then brought to the central collection point where they are graded, quality controlled and tasted. This grouping allows the character of the area to be maintained whilst providing access to a bigger market for the smallholder farmers, that typically would not be able to reach that far on their own.
